FAQ
What people ask before they call.
Common questions about AI audits, governance, CRM builds, safe AI use, pricing and service areas for charities, hospices and SMEs.
What does an AI operations audit for a charity involve?
A fixed-fee, two-week review of your workflows, reporting and systems. You receive a written report showing where AI can safely save your team hours each week, a prioritised roadmap mapped against safeguarding, GDPR and regulatory constraints, a clear list of what your organisation should not use AI for, and a one-hour leadership readout. The fee is £1,500.
Can charities and CQC-regulated providers use AI safely?
Yes, with the right boundaries. The risk is rarely AI itself. It is informal, unpoliced use that nobody has reviewed. Safe adoption starts with knowing where AI helps without touching safeguarding-sensitive decisions, plus a written policy and trained staff.
Do you only work with charities and healthcare organisations?
No. My deepest experience is in regulated, safeguarding-led environments, which is why charities, hospices and providers choose SAO. But the bespoke services (CRM builds, workshops, AI governance and Sarai Social) work for any small or mid-sized organisation that wants the same rigour without the jargon.
What is an AI governance pack and does my organisation need one?
A tailored AI policy, risk register and staff guidance written for how your organisation actually works. Funders, trustees and regulators increasingly ask what your AI policy is, and the pack answers that in under a week for £750.
How long does a CRM or workflow build take?
Most CRM builds run two to four weeks from scoping to handover, depending on complexity and how many systems you are replacing. You get a fixed fee before any work starts, documentation your team can follow, and a handover session. No open-ended retainers.
What if my needs don't fit a fixed package?
Book a paid scoping call. I will map the problem honestly, and if a fixed-fee package fits better I will say so. Bespoke work is quoted as a single fixed fee after scoping, never an hourly rate or a retainer.
Is my data safe if we use AI tools?
That is exactly what the governance pack and audit address. The starting point is knowing what data should never touch a public AI tool, what can be used safely, and what controls (redaction, private models, access limits) your team needs before anything is switched on.
Where are you based and where do you work?
Based in Salford, Greater Manchester. Remote-first across the UK, with on-site options throughout Greater Manchester and the North West, including Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Wigan, Stockport and Manchester.
Can charities use ChatGPT safely?
Yes, but only with clear boundaries. Staff should never enter safeguarding-sensitive data, personal records or confidential donor information into public AI tools. A written policy, staff training and an understanding of which tasks are safe to delegate to AI are the minimum requirements before adoption.
What should a charity AI policy include?
A charity AI policy should cover which tools are permitted and prohibited, what data must never be entered into AI tools, who is responsible for oversight, how outputs are reviewed before use, and a review schedule. It should be written in plain English so staff can actually follow it.
How much does an AI audit cost for a charity?
A fixed-fee AI operations audit from SAO Consultancy costs £1,500 and is delivered in two weeks. There are no hidden fees or add-ons. The audit includes a written report, a prioritised roadmap, a "do not use AI for this" list and a one-hour leadership readout.
What CRM is best for a charity?
It depends on your size, budget and existing systems. Salesforce offers powerful features but needs dedicated administration. HubSpot is more user-friendly for smaller teams. Capsule suits very small organisations. The right choice depends on your workflows, not the brand name. A CRM audit will identify the best fit.
Do you offer ongoing support after a project ends?
No open-ended retainers. Every project ends with documentation and a handover session so your team can run the result independently. If you need fractional support later, it is scoped as a new fixed-fee engagement, never an automatic monthly charge.
What is the difference between AI governance and AI policy?
An AI policy is the written document that sets rules for your team. AI governance is the broader framework: the policy, the risk register, the staff training, the review cycle and the accountability structure. The governance pack from SAO includes all of these, not just a policy document.
